Everything you need to know about parcel boxes

Ordering

As a guideline, Swiss Post recommends installing at least one large parcel box per 5-6 households. As the customer and owner of parcel boxes, you decide on the quantity and design (small and/or large boxes, special finishes in terms of materials, colours etc.).

Contact one of the box manufacturers on our contact list direct. The manufacturers chosen produce the parcel boxes to Swiss Post’s technical criteria. The manufacturer will be pleased to advise you and provide you with a quotation for parcel boxes with a locking system.

Locking system

All box manufacturers use the same locking systems. These are obtained from a single supplier selected and checked by Swiss Post. For security reasons, all locks are programmed exclusively by Swiss Post employees.

Costs

The prices for parcel boxes vary depending on the quantity, finish and provider. Ask parcel box suppliers for a non-binding offer.

The locking systems need new batteries after approx. 3-4 years. Swiss Post will exchange them in good time for a charge of approx. CHF 10 per parcel box.

Installation

The parcel boxes are easy to install, but you can also ask your box supplier to quote for installation.

The boxes must be installed at locations that are easily accessible for Swiss Post delivery staff, generally in the immediate vicinity of the letterboxes. If possible, the boxes should be protected against rain.

Labelling

Generally speaking, fewer parcel boxes are installed than there are apartments. Therefore, the boxes are not labelled with the names of the residents.
