PostBus wins major contract in the Principality of Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein Bus Anstalt (LBA) has awarded the transport services for scheduled public transport and school bus services in the Principality of Liechtenstein which were publicly tendered in May 2010. The biggest contract for the bus network was won by PostBus Switzerland Ltd.
LBA yesterday awarded PostBus Switzerland Ltd the contract for all the scheduled services, comprising 14 routes and an approximate annual 2.7 million kilometres covered by regular service, for a duration of seven years – as well as the option of extending this term by a further three years. The total order volume amounts to around CHF 160 million. Furthermore, four of the five lots for school transport over five years were awarded to PostBus Switzerland Ltd which secured the business together with three transport companies from Liechtenstein.
The WTO tender took place in May 2010. PostBus faced various competition from Switzerland and abroad. Operations are expected to commence in December 2011. PostBus first won the bus network in the Principality of Liechtenstein in 2000 and has operated it since 2001. In addition to Liechtenstein, PostBus is also present in several locations in France.
